About NBEGAT

Who we are & how we serve

The National Baptist Eastern General Association of Texas (NBEGAT) is a fellowship of 47 churches in the Eastern Field committed to strengthening one another in prayer, teaching, evangelism, and discipleship. Our newsletter, The Eastern Beacon of Hope, exists to share convention news, ministry developments, and community achievements across our churches.

Our mission in one line

Under the spiritual leadership of our Moderator, Pastor Kerry W. Tillmon, we aim to “shine as STARSServing, Teaching, Advancing, Reaching, Strengthening—so that every congregation flourishes in gospel work.”

What we do (at a glance)

Convention & District Life. We publish association updates, elevate auxiliary work (Women, Men, Youth), and coordinate relief and outreach efforts region-wide—so that local churches can move faster together than any one church can alone.

Leadership & Training. From the Deacon Leadership Institute to conflict-resolution seminars for pastoral teams, we equip leaders to serve with wisdom and integrity in changing times.

Church Development & Evangelism. We share tools for church planting and regional evangelism, and we highlight congregation-led ministries that meet real needs in our communities.

Missions. We celebrate and resource missions—local and foreign—so that the East’s witness remains generous and outward-facing.

Why NBEGAT matters right now

We’re a network of local churches moving in the same direction—forming disciples, training leaders, sharing resources, and responding to needs together. The Eastern Beacon of Hope tells that story each month so every member sees where God is at work across the East and how to join in.
